Oral Conscious Sedation

If going to the dentist for treatment makes you break out into a cold sweat, you may be suffering from moderate to severe dental anxiety. Our team understands this fear and we offer oral conscious sedation to help minimize your stress before and during dental treatments. Our dentist can prescribe an oral sedative that you take before your appointment. This will put you into a relaxed, but still conscious, state. You will be awake, but some people do not remember their time in the dental chair after the medication wears off.

Oral conscious sedation can also be used for more invasive or lengthy treatments, even if you do not have dental anxiety. You can relax while we perform root canal therapy or tooth extractions, helping improve the experience.

Nitrous Oxide

Another sedation option we offer is laughing gas, or nitrous oxide. This is a mild sedative that can be used for those with mild to moderate anxiety or those who prefer extra help relaxing during treatment. This is a safe sedative – in some cases, it may be recommended when children need invasive dental treatments. You feel a sense of euphoria while breathing in the gas but are awake and alert. The effect wears off quickly and you can drive home after your treatment.
